XP Group Training Day and Fund Raiser

By Gary Blackwell

XP Distributor Nigel Ingram from Regton and myself were kindly invited to attend a club dig in Norfolk, England. Liam Nolan the dig organizer had heard about my XP Deus 1 to 1 training sessions and thought a club training day would be beneficial to the members.

I didn’t need much persuading, the chance of meeting new XP users and hearing their feedback is something I never turn down, plus the chance to make some money for my charity confirmed the deal. The day started with heavy wind and heavy rain forecast for later in the day, thankfully it held off until late afternoon, we had a great day and met some wonderful people who are a real credit to the hobby.

The XP Deus training event went very well, the very next day we started receiving positive feedback from those who attended. We look forward to more future training days. Thanks to Liam and the MDF forum members for making us feel very welcome – we raised £350.00 for Macmillan.

This article is just one example of Metal Detectorists acting responsibly and promoting this great hobby as a dedicated professionals for the world to see. XPLORER are proud to support these people as they are true ambassadors for XP and indeed Metal Detecting worldwide.

FAQ:

Q: Should I wait for the new version 4.0 to be released before I buy a DEUS? I have been told there are changes to the electronic components. Will my current DEUS – coil-remote control-headphones be compatible with this next version or do I need to change them?

A : No the product hardware will be the same, the new V4.0 update is software only and will be downloadable for free, it will work with all previous DEUS! The original coils, headphones and remote control will work with the new version 4.0 update, although some new menu features will not be accessible unless the new accessories are connected.

Q: Will I have to move my DEUS to V4.0?

A: It is your choice, you can stay in version 2.0 or 3.2 if you want, but the Version 4.0 will be necessary to connect and run the new HF optional coil and Pinpointer.

Q : Can I use the XP MI-6 Pinpointer even if don’t own a DEUS?

A: Yes of course, the MI-6 can work alone like a traditional Pinpointer thanks to its speaker, vibrator, LED, 6 programs, 3 sensitivity levels, 2 audio modes.

Q: How do I make the Pinpointer communicate wirelessly with the DEUS ?

A: This is a simple process – Choose program number 7 on the Pinpointer, the speaker will then be disabled and the sound will be send automatically to the DEUS Remote or headphones. Also the pin pointer has a dedicated menu which appears instantaneously on the DEUS remote display when it is in operation.

The operator can make a full range of adjustments to the pin pointers sound and operation from the DEUS remote.

Q: Are there any other XP accessories to be released soon?

A: Nothing else is planned at the moment.

The optional Hoard Hunter 2 box system for the DEUS is currently delayed.

Gold Ingots Found with XP DEUS!

By Henry Parro

After finding one of the oldest gold coins in the Essex – Colchester region
of England last year, I wasn’t sure what to expect this year. As you can
see in the accompanying photos, I wasn’t let down. I was hunting in a
corner of a field where several years ago a piece of gold slag was found. I
hit an area that was full of iron and melted slag of various materials,
both ferrous and non-ferrous.

Henry Parro holding one of his recently found gold ingots.

Henry Parro holding one of his recently found gold ingots.

The XP sounded more like a popcorn machine rather than a detector. I worked the area slow and every now and then I would hear a non-ferrous tone. Digging down, I noticed that the soil was dark and consisted of ash indicating a fire at one point. The targets would be melted globs of metal. Due to the heavy iron content it was hard to dig just non-ferrous targets. I received one tone that was different from the rest. As I pulled the target out of the ground, I noticed the gold color. I washed it off to see it was a gold ingot!

I worked the area further until lunch, then we moved to another field. Later that evening back at the barn, several theories developed about the gold ingot. It was a mixture of gold and silver and melted hundreds of years ago. It was possible from a smelter or maker of coins and jewelry. The following day I headed back to the same area. I was joined by my hunting partner CT Todd. I turned reactivity up and iron volume down and it made a difference. By lunch we had found 3 more gold ingots.

While metal detecting with his DEUS, Henry Parro located these amazing gold ingots.

This shows the versatility of the XP. Several other hunters were in the area with other brands and ventured toward the iron field but quickly gave up and walked away. Needless to say, I will be going back and there will be only one machine in my suitcase, the XP DEUS.

MS XP DEUS Bootcamp in January 2015.

The latest XP DEUS Bootcamp training session was held in Gulfport, MS on January 17th, 2015. The experience level of those in attendance ranged from years to just one day! The individual with one day under their belt used a DEUS loaner unit provided by the bootcamp staff. The feedback from even the most seasoned of hunters was that they learned things about the DEUS metal detector that they had not known before.

There was a combination of a classroom session to build a solid foundation and an in-field session where the bootcamp instructors had laid out multiple test gardens. The test gardens held a wide range of targets and challenges to show how slight adjustments on the DEUS metal detector can make a huge difference in the field. Attendees left Gulfport with a clear understanding of how to tune their DEUS for their local conditions.
